Kaduna State University (KASU) is a stated-owned university that is situated in Kaduna, Kaduna State, Nigeria. The university was founded in the year 2004. KASU has two campuses – one in Kafanchan and the other in Kaduna metropolis. The university has seven faculties and a college of medicine with over thirty-nine (39) departments.

Faculty of Arts

The Faculty of Arts is among the pioneer faculties of the university, established in 2005. It has seven departments.

College of Medicine

The College of Medicine, Kaduna State University (KASU) was established in 2008 with the vision to produce medical doctors and other health personnel who understand the normal and abnormal human body, the family and the society, with enough scientific knowledge to undertake further training to become specialists, teachers, and researchers.

Its mission is to train medical doctors and other health personnel of high medical standard who will man the health services in Kaduna State and other parts of Nigeria, who can practice in the community and primary healthcare setting, who can practice in any part of the world, are able to undertake further training to become specialists, and are able to carry out scientific research for the benefit of humanity.

The College of Medicine has one department:

·        MBBS Medicine and Surgery

The Barau Dikko teaching hospital is meant for training pharmacy and medical students.

 

Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 2012. The foundation dean of the faculty is Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Mora. It has five departments:

  • Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Medicinal chemistry

Vision:

The vision of Kaduna State University is to become a University of world class standard with Excellence in Applied Sciences ans Sustainability studies.

 

Mission:

The mission of Kaduna State University is to provide an all-round university education of the highest standard for the development of the individual and the state, while inculcating the spirit of love, tolerance, understanding and unity in the state in particular and the country in general.

 

Objectives:

The broad objective of KASU is to produce competent and qualified graduates with strong moral and academic standing. The specific objectives are:

To encourage the advancement of learning and to hold out to all persons without distinction of race, creed, sex or political conviction the opportunity of acquiring a higher and liberal education.

To provide courses of instruction and other facilities for the pursuit of learning in all its branches, and to make those facilities available on proper terms to such persons as are equipped to benefit from them.
