Heirs Insurance Group has launched the Heirs Insurance Hackathon 2026, an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students in Nigerian tertiary institutions to showcase their innovative ideas using Artificial Intelligence (AI).

This hackathon aims to address real-world challenges in the Nigerian insurance industry, focusing on areas like claims processing, underwriting, customer experience, and product distribution. With tech partner Redtech, it's a platform to collaborate with industry experts and mentors to redefine insurance in Africa. 

Eligibility for Heirs Insurance Undergraduate Hackathon

To participate, you must be an undergraduate student in Nigeria. Teams should consist of 3 members from the same institution, with one selected as the team lead. It's recommended to have a mix of skills, such as a developer, designer, and project manager. Note that individuals related to Heirs Insurance Group (employees, family members, contractors, etc.) are not eligible. 

Challenge

Develop AI-driven solutions to solve problems in the insurance sector. Your ideas should target one or more of the following:

• Claims Processing
• Underwriting
• Customer Experience
• Product Distribution

The focus is on making insurance more accessible, simplified, and reliable for everyone. 

Prizes to be Won for Heirs Insurance Undergraduate Hackathon

Prizes1st Place: N5,000,000

2nd Place: N3,000,000

3rd Place: N1,000,000

Winners will also receive certificates and swag items.

How to Apply for Heirs Insurance Undergraduate Hackathon

• Form a team of 3 from your institution and choose a team lead.
• Download the official proposal template from the hackathon page.
• Brainstorm your AI solution and structure it using the template.
• Export your proposal as a PDF and submit via the online platform at https://forms.heirsinsurance.com/hackathon/.
