In a circular to its members, the union stated that the government is yet to attend to the demands of ASUU in the state university. Chairman of the TSU ASUU Chapter, Dr Samuel Shiikaa on Monday maintained that non-implementation of the MoU of February 2019 agreement which necessitated the nationwide strike was yet to be resolved.

The union further explained that the renegotiation of the 2009 agreement involving the review of salaries and the mainstream of Earned Academic Allowance for members was yet to be resolved and accused the government of bringing IPPIS to delay the negotiation process.

The circular also maintained that “ASUU is equally worried over the underfunding of state universities and administration issues in them. For us in Taraba State University, our issues include non-implementation of the funding of TSU in line with Law Number 4 of 2008.”

This is coming after the state government had last week directed all tertiary institutions in the state to reopen after the relaxation of the COVID-19 lockdown.
