NNPC/Renaissance Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship for 2026/2027 Session

Applications are now open for the NNPC and Renaissance African Energy Company Joint Venture (JV) postgraduate scholarship scheme for the Niger Delta.

The Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited, operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Renaissance, TotalEnergies, AENR Joint Venture, is delighted to announce the seventeenth annual NNPC/Renaissance JV Niger Delta Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship for applicants from Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers States. 

The objective of the scholarship programme is to provide postgraduate study opportunities in courses that are relevant to the oil and gas industry for qualifying students from these Niger Delta States. In the 16 years of this programme, 116 scholars have won the opportunity to study at top-rated universities in the UK on full scholarship. 

For the academic year commencing September 2026, Renaissance, in partnership with three universities in the UK—University of Aberdeen, Robert Gordon University and Newcastle University—will award scholarships for one-year postgraduate taught MSc studies.

Eligibility Criteria for NNPC/Renaissance JV Postgraduate Scholarship

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

• Display intellectual ability and leadership potential.
• Have an adequate standard of English (at least 6.5 in IELTS) and meet the university’s language requirements.
• Have been offered admission to study on one of the eligible courses through the university’s normal admission process.
• Already hold (or expect to hold before commencement) a degree equivalent to a UK Upper Second-Class Honours degree.
• Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme by September 2026.
• Be an indigene of Bayelsa, Delta, Imo or Rivers State.
• Have not previously studied in the UK or another developed country.
• Be aged between 21–28 years by 30 September 2026.
• Hold a Nigerian international passport valid until December 2027.
• Employees, employees’ relatives, or former employees (who left employment less than five years before) of Renaissance or the participating universities are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply for NNPC/Renaissance Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship

Candidates should send in their applications to any of the aforementioned universities and for any of the courses.

Scholarship application forms will ONLY be available through the websites of Newcastle University, Robert Gordon University and the University of Aberdeen, following a formal offer of admission.

The universities will process applications and select candidates who will attend interviews with Renaissance before final selection.

Application Deadline

Completed scholarship application forms must reach the participating universities not later than 17 July 2026.

The scholarship covers: 

• Tuition fees
• One economy return flight from Nigeria to the UK
• A contribution towards living expenses

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 

More information on specific course admission requirements can be obtained from the websites of the participating universities.

Living expenses are based on the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) published rates and are limited to those amounts.

This is a non-committal scholarship. Renaissance has no obligation to offer employment upon graduation to successful candidates bonded to Renaissance.

Renaissance will provide medical insurance and UK Student Visa requirements.
