The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the list of Prohibited items in both mock and the main examination hall.

The board has warned that candidates who breach the directive would be disallowed from taking the UTME. Candidates are hereby required to properly examine the list and take note of the prohibited items, in order to avoid complications during the UTME exercise.

Below is the complete list of Prohibited Items listed by JAMB:

·        Watches
·        Pen/Biro
·        Mobile Phones or Similar Electronic Devices
·        Spy Reading Glasses Which Should be Scrutinized
·        Calculators or Similar Electronic Devices
·        USB, CD, Hard Disk, and or Simllar Storage Devices
·        Books and Any Reading/Writing Material
·        Cameras
·        Recorders
·        Microphones
·        Ear Pieces
·        Ink/Pen Readers
·        Smart Lenses
·        Smart Rings/Jewelery
·        Smart Buttons
·        Blue-tooth Devices
·        Key Holders
·        ATM Cards

·        Erasers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) still maintained its directive that no candidate would be allowed to come into the exam hall with electronic devices in the forthcoming mock examinations and 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin released in Abuja on Sunday, February 17, 2019, contains the list of prohibited Items that won’t be allowed into any of its centres during this year’s examination. The items are:

Electronic devices such as:
1.           mobile phones
2.           calculators
3.           wristwatches
4.           recorders
5.           spy reading glasses
6.           cameras
7.           ear piece
8.           bluetooth devices
9.           USB
10.      CD
11.      hard disk and other similar storage devices
12.      pen/biro
13.      smart lenses
14.      books or any reading/writing material
15.      ink/pen readers
16.      key holders
17.      ATM cards
18.      erasers
19.      smart rings/jewelries

The bulletin partly states: “to ensure that the board’s examinations meet best global practice, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has prohibited the use of the following items during examinations.

“Candidates are hereby advised in their best interest not to bring these items close to the examination venue. Any breach of this directive would bar the candidates from taking the examination.”

JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin disclosed that some candidates who breached the directive and brought some of the devices to the hall last year were caught and handed over to security agencies.
