Hokkaido University offers three-year scholarships for five doctoral students and two-year scholarships for three master’s students to international students. Additionally, a fully funded MEXT (Japan’s Ministry of Education) scholarship is available for international students pursuing a Master’s in Biosystems Science at Hokkaido University.

These scholarships are part of the International Graduate Program (IGP) Special Quota for the October 2026 intake.

• Hold (or will hold) a bachelor’s degree by October 2026
• Are under 35 years old as of April 1, 2026
• Demonstrate academic and research excellence
