Applications are now open for the National Health Fellows Programme for all suitably qualified Nigerians. About 774 fellows will be engaged in each local government area within the country for a duration of 12 months.

About the National Health Fellows Programme

The Federal Government in her determination to comprehensively upgrade existing primary healthcare centres and construct over 8,800 new primary healthcare centres across all local government areas in the country for accessible and qualitative healthcare delivery with the provision of new social accountability mechanisms, has approved the establishment of the National Health Fellows Programme, with young Nigerian fellows to be engaged in all the 774 local government areas in the country.

The fellowship programme is domiciled in the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) coordination office under the office of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare. The fellows will be recruited, remunerated, and equipped with appropriate tools to drive positive change in the health sector.

Eligibility Criteria for National Health Fellows Programme

To be a suitable candidate, applicants:

• Must be between the ages of 25 and 35.
• Owned a bachelor’s degree (health-related, IT, or social sciences).
• Must demonstrable interest/ or Experience in Public health  OR health-related NGO and partner organisations OR community projects that demonstrate leadership and initiative.
• Must be available to participate full-time in the fellowship programme.
• Must be an indigene of the state being applied for.
• Must possess smartphones with data capabilities i.e. for WhatsApp, Zoom etc.
• Provide recommendation from the University Dean OR NYSC place of primary assignment, or a respected organisation demonstrating character and leadership.
• Must demonstrate analytical skills and entrepreneurial drive

• Birth Certificate or an Affidavit of age declaration
• State of Origin Certificate
• Degree Certificate
• NYSC Discharge Certificate

Benefits of National Health Fellows Programme
