Postgraduate scholarship at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU), Germany

The Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU) Cottbus-Senftenberg founded in 1991 is offering several PhD scholarships starting in January 2018.

Successful candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of 1,100 euros for a period of up to 36 months.

This call aims at promoting innovative cutting-edge research projects.

The University is located in Germany with campuses in Cottbus and Senftenberg.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing PhD/doctoral progarmme.

Study Subject: The call for applications is open to projects from all academic disciplines supervised by a professor at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg.

Scholarship Award: The successful candidates will receive a monthly scholarship of 1,100 euros (without family allowance).

Scholarship can be taken in Germany

Eligibility: Doctoral/PhD students who receive a GradV-scholarship are required to enrol at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg as students.

Nationality: German students are eligible to apply.

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must have previous degree.

How to Apply: The complete application has to be submitted in a single PDF file via email to the Graduate Research School (GRS): researchschool-at-b-tu.de. Application documents:

(a) Cover letter (to be addressed to the President of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, Prof. Dr.- Ing. Jörg Steinbach, Platz der Deutschen Einheit 1, 03046 Cottbus); please specify in your cover letter whether you wish to apply for a Ph.D./doctoral scholarship (36 months) or short-term scholarship (usually up to six months).
(b) Form “Declaration concerning the scholarship” incl. the following annexes (see p. 8 of the form):

·         Letter of motivation (to be addressed to the GradV-Awarding-Commission of BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg)

·         CV (incl. list of your own publications if applicable)

·         Letter of acceptance from supervisor
Research proposal that …
Presents the research interest in a comprehensible way,
Presents the structure of the research project and stresses the background of the issue,
Contains a concise working plan until the completion of the doctorate/Ph.D.,
And gives more information about the current state of research and your own preparatory works.

·         Copies of transcripts and degrees (bachelor, master)

·         Proof of admission to the doctoral studies

·         Copy of residence permission (if applicable)

·         Copy of notice from the municipal family office (if applicable)

(c) A report by the prospective supervisor and an additional report by another professor; both reports shall make reference to the applicant’s potential as doctoral/PhD candidate and the content of the research project; the applicant and the prospective supervisor have to request the second report by themselves
