The union spoke Thursday through its President, Anderson Ezeibe, at the end of the 97th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede in Osun State.

Ezeibe expressed disappointment about  the challenges witnessed in the payment of February salary via the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform and urged the government to rectify the issues before the payment of March salary.

ASUP said: “All the issues associated with the poor implementation of the IPPIS at federal polytechnics should be resolved before the payment of March salary. The Federal Government should ensure payment of withheld salary of workers at member-institutions in Abia, Benue, Imo, Edo, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, and Kogi states. It should look into non-implementation and release of arrears of the consequential from the new minimum wage law as they relate to salaries of our members in states.

“Also, part of the grievance of the union is unilateral suspension of the 2010 FGN/ASUP agreement renegotiation, which has stopped for almost two years without any cogent reason; the deliberate abuse of the 2019 Federal Polytechnics Act as amended by some federal polytechnics with the tacit support of the representatives of the National Board for Technical Examination (NBTE) and Federal Ministry of Education. Such activities present such institutions as lawless entities and are capable of breeding anarchy.

“Victimisation of union officials due to their participation in lawful struggles were among other issues raised at the meeting.

“The union is hereby issuing a 15-day ultimatum to the government with effect from March 18.”
